25-11-11 – mind you, it’s nearly 2am

In Blog, original quote on November 26, 2011 at 1:00 am

It is not how you spend the time so much as who you spend it with.” – and yes, you can quote me on that one. Before I go any further, I have decided to continue the late night posts on Friday nights in hopes it may eventuate into a habit of sorts. If last week’s post was any indication, these posts will be weird and wonderful with the latter resting entirely on your interpretation. Oh c’mon guys, I can hear you groaning, at least try to hide it underneath a smiling poker face.

There we go, much prettier! Read on.

Time, company, activity. Three things people go to lengths to seek, enjoy and may also be commonly swapped for another commodity; money. Order is irrelevant; through the combination of these does one hope to find happiness. Let’s apply this formula to Friday nights.

1. 3 hours, friends, dinner.

2. 4 hours, room full of 80% strangers, clubbing.

3. endless, family, being a family.

It would be unfair to rate any of the above as I find them all to be formulas that lead to a fabulous night, regardless. True story. We’ve all been there (and I daresay y’all have been there with me on most occasions too.) So what gives?

Good question. Nothing gives like a good night in with lovable members of kin. Y’know, the ones we swore were the most annoying beings at one point or another. As you may have guessed, I took option 3 as to give myself a chance at being a kid again. And by golly it felt good.

Eager for dinner to be served, the sibling and I plotted how to tackle the task before us. He’d finished exams, I’d finished a week of work (same diff, same diff!). A whole night ahead of us and the idea of Pixar and Studio Ghibli seemed fool proof. And they sure were; for if we weren’t fools before, we were certainly in a dizzy haze of good buzz and laughing like fools by the end of the night. Bliss.

Mind you, I’d spend all Friday nights like tonight if the universe allowed. Because love (and good food, laughs and grandpa’s old cameras) really is all you need.

Peace out.

ps. (‘peace out’ seemed entirely appropriate at the time of posting. 2 minutes away from 2am and the crazy has hit again!)
